On 9-10-11 September, the PIA members met with several public and private sector bodies in Abidjan, Côte D'Ivoire.

The purpose of the visit was to engage with the government on achieving a more private sector supportive business environment and to further understand the country's investment opportunities and challenges.

On September 9th, the PIA were welcomed by the CEPICI (Centre de Promotion des Investissements en Côte D'Ivoire), the Single Window for Investment facility identifying, informing, accommodating and assisting both Ivorian and foreign investors. In the evening, the PIA members were received by Prime Minister Daniel Kablan Duncan and several of his ministers for an open conversation on investment opportunities, constraints and ways forward for the private sector.

On September 10th, a focused agriculture meeting was held at the Ministry of Agriculture. Following this, the PIA met with Mr. Alex Rugamba, Vice President in charge of Infrastructure, Private Sector and Regional Integration, at the African Development Bank (AfDB), to discuss power and infrastructure projects on the continent.

The PIA visit to Abidjan concluded on September 11th with a second visit to the AfBD, where the delegation met with Mr. Donald Kaberuka, President of the African Development Bank, and shared insights and action plans regarding the Ebola situation in the region.

Moving forward, a strategic partnership between the PIA members and the Government of Côte D'Ivoire will build on the momentum of the successful meetings in Abidjan to accelerate the collaboration with the private sector, in order to capture the opportunities already present, and to further strengthen ties and trade between PIA and Côte D' Ivoire. In light of the current Ebola situation affecting certain Western African nations, the PIA visit to Abidjan also acts as a case in point to demonstrate that business has a critical role in helping to address many aspects of the epidemic Ebola in particular the negative impact of misinformation.
